Our beliefs

We exist to call men and women to celebrate and be changed by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus and His Lordship over all of life - for the good of our city and the world. In the gospel we meet a God who has acted decisively in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus to redeem and restore people to Himself. Jesus lives the life we could not live, dies the death that we deserve to die, and is raised from the dead and revealed to be the King over all creation. This was no arbitrary event in history; it is the decisive moment. The gospel tells the whole story of Biblical history and how God has acted decisively in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus to redeem the world for His glory. Preaching the gospel means showing how Jesus is the fulfillment and goal of every biblical text.

What We Believe

The Bible

The Holy Bible, and only the Bible, is the authoritative Word of God and it is God's revelation of Himself to man. God is the Author, written by men, divinely inspired. All scripture is totally true and trustworthy without any error and is a testimony to Christ.

John 5:39, 2 Timothy 3:15-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21, Proverbs 30:5, Romans 16:25-26

God

There is one, and only one, living and true God. He is the eternal, triune God, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is Creator and Ruler of the universe.

Genesis 1:1, 1 John 5:7

God the Father is all powerful, all knowing, all loving and all wise.

He is Father in truth to those who become His children through faith in Jesus Christ.

John 4:24, Ephesians 4:6, Hebrews 11:6

God the Son, Jesus Christ, was conceived by God through the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, and the only man to live a sinless life.

He performed miracles, died on the cross for mankind and was raised from the dead on the third day. He ascended to the right hand of the Father.

He intercedes for the redeemed and will return to earth again in power and glory.

                Luke 1:27-35, Matthew 1:18, 1 Timothy 2:5, John 11:25-26, Mark 13:24-27

God the Holy Spirit, fully divine, exalts Christ, convicts men of sin and enables them to understand truth. He is present in this world to make people aware of their need for Christ. He empowers believers in Christ for service and witness and seals them unto the day of final redemption.

Joel 2:28-29, 1 Corinthians 2:9-14, 1 John 5:6-7

Man

A special creation of God, made in God's own image. Created male and female as the crowning work of His creation.

Through the temptation of Satan, man sinned against God. Only by the Grace of God, through Jesus Christ, can fellowship with the Father be restored.

Genesis 1:26-27, John 14:6

Sin

By free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Sin has separated us all from God and only through accepting Jesus Christ as Savior can we be reconciled to God the Father.

Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8-10, Romans 10:9-10

Salvation

A person is saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ; His death, burial and resurrection. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of good works or of any human effort. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as savior and Lord.

Ephesians 2:8-10, Galatians 2:16,20, Titus 3:5-6

Baptism

Christian baptism is immersion of a believer in water, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Baptism takes place after salvation and is a witness to others of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.

Romans 6:3-4 Ephesians 4:4-6 Acts 8:35-39

Church

A group of baptized believers in Jesus Christ. Every person who is born of the Spirit is an integral part of the Body of Christ, the Church, with divine appointments to fulfill Jesus' Great Commission.

Matthew 16:15-19 Colossians 1:18 Acts 2:47 Ephesians 1:17-22

Lord's Supper

A symbolic act of obedience in remembrance of the death of the Savior, Jesus Christ, as we partake of the bread and fruit of the vine. A time to look forward to His Second Coming.

1 Corinthians 11:26-29 Luke 22:17-20

Resurrection and Second Coming

Jesus Christ was physically resurrected from the dead in a glorified body three days after His death on the cross. In addition, both saved and lost will be resurrected. They that are saved will be resurrected to everlasting life in Christ and those that never accepted Christ as Savior will suffer eternal damnation. Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return to earth for the second time to establish His Kingdom.

Matthew 28:1-7 John 2:19-22 Matthew 24:30 John 11:25-26 Acts 1:9-11 Revelation 1:7-8 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9

Jesus made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of men. And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even death on the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is LORD to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:7-11

Our Mission is the Great Commission

Matthew 28:19-20

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit;

teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and, lo, I am with you always,

even to the end of the world. Amen
